Old Gray Mentors are volunteers whom you can lean on as you make life transitions. We have been there, done that, and want to share what we have learned. We'll be there to support you, and you can be a part of the Old Gray Rugby community for a lifetime.
See the Old Gray Rugby Mentor program article in the Legacy Ledger..
A key initiative from the ARAC is the Army Rugby Mentor Program. Guided by Tim Lawton ‘03, Frank Kearney ’76, Bill Marshall ’91, Andrew Borer ‘16, and Nate Conkey ‘00, the Army Rugby Mentor Program aims to facilitate the growth and development of future leaders of America from within the Army West Point Rugby program, helping them to maximize their potential in the Army and beyond.
The legacy of our Brotherhood is what makes Army Rugby unique. Since 1961, we have always looked out for each other. The Army Rugby Mentor Program takes this one step farther. By connecting Old Gray and current Army Ruggers, one of the goals of the ARAC Mentor Program is to strengthen the bonds of ruggers in the Long Gray Line. The skills and lessons learned on the pitch are unique and fundamental to success beyond West Point – on the battlefield, in the boardroom and elsewhere. The Old Gray mentors are conduits to personal and professional growth and facilitate and guide the development of Brothers who become the newest members of the Long Gray Line.
The ARAC Mentor Program will match graduating Firsties and Cows with Old Gray mentors to provide one‑on‑one guidance as they make major decisions at the Academy and beyond. Ideally, pairing will be done prior to Army Rugby Legacy Weekend and the first meeting between mentor and mentee will happen in person during that weekend. Come learn more about the ARAC Mentor Program during the Army Rugby Legacy Weekend! If you are unable to make it, but want to serve as an Old Gray mentor, please contact Tim Lawton '03, Mentor Committee Lead, at timothylwtn@gmail.com.

Transitioning to the civilian world. Career advice. Networking.
How will a mentor be matched up with me?
We will try to match you up with someone who has compatible interests and relevant knowledge.
For example, if you are smart and want to engage in further academic pursuits, you might be matched up with someone like perpetual prop, Pineapple Pete Patascil, PhD.
If you interested in astronomy, or if you're interested in stars because you want to some day wear them, there are several general officers (and an astrophysicist) in the mentoring program.
If you want to make money, you get Al Hogue.
What if I don't like my mentor?
Don't worry, we'll keep working on it and find you someone who best meets your needs.
What if I don't like my mentee?
Suck it up. You volunteered. Everything's not always about you. Stop whining.
When should I reach out?
It is never too early, cadet. We are eager to work with you!
It is never too late, old grad. You have already made the mistakes that you can help someone avoid.
MENTEES:
Cadets, young grads, old grads, let us know. We have volunteers eager to assist. Take a moment to drop us a line.
MENTORS:
We are always looking for mentors. Your experience is valuable. Let us know that you are willing to share it.
